Study on the Utilization of Duty Hours of Community Health Nurses at a Health Center

Abstract
|
|
|
The objectives of the study were to find out the home care need of the community people and how and what training program ean meet the home care nurse trying to meet the need of the home care near future.
For these purpose study selected 1041 household from 5 myon under Asan Gun Health center.
The results of study were as follows.
1) General characteristic of the area
The population status of this area showed that typical rural type of that age between 15-44 migrated to urban area and education background showed that 26.4% graduate primary school and occupational status were 22.0% was agricultural and religious status were 80.2% did not have any special religions.
2) Environmental sanitation slatus of the area showed that 67. 1% household used common traditional kitchen and 48.5% used simple water supply system and 43.6% people disposed the refuse old traditional way and 89.0% people used old traditional toilet.
3) Regarding cultural facilities holding status showed that 98.2% had T.V and 92.7% had refrigerator, 79.2% used their own telephones.
4) Health care service rendered by Health and Health sub-center shows that 40% (6person) covered antenatal care , 33.2% (108 person) covered child health care, 62.6% (408 person) coverd T.B service and B.C.G 88%, D.P.T 81.5%, hepatitis 62.8% covered by Health center immunization service.
5) Analysis of the reason for utilization of the Health center and Health sub-center showed that 50% (2102 person) among total area population utilized health agency and out of utilized H.C population 75.5% (1580) visited the Health center for sick treatment and care.
6) The status of the crude death rate showed that 9.23% and it was 3.3% highest than national crude death rate.
7) The status of sick problem by age group showed that age between 40-59 showed 45.9% of sick problem out of total sick of the study group and age over 60 having 36.5% showed that age over 40 holded 82.4% of sick problem out of total sick in the area.
8) The status of sick problem diagnosis agency showed that 39.0% diagnosis in the hospital and duration of existy sick problem states showed that 27.7% started from 9 years before and continuity of the such treatment status showed that 19.1% continuied 1 year treatment and the rest of the sick people did not care regular basis.
9) The utilization status of the hospital facility when they got sick problem showed that 48.2% visited Health sub-center and C.H.P post for mild sick problem care and 29.1% visited the private practition and hospital for chronic sick care and 11.0% showed that chronic case treated at home by own way of treatment.
10) Health education and counseling need by P.H.N from the community people showed that 16% wanted to discuss about hypertension and blood pressure matter and 11.9% alcohol drink and human health relational matters 10.6% wanted to know about cancer prevention and treatment matter.
11) Reaction about visiting Home care by P.H.N for chronic minor sick problem showed that all people accepted to having accepted visiting care if they did not ask any additional payment from the peoples.
12) Status of existing P.H.N´s ability to care these sick problem at home showed that 59.5% of existing chronic problem could care at home and 25.8% of problem care needed aditional special training which showed that 85.3% of existing sick
12)For the final conclusion of above study shows that most of the chronic sick and aged peoples sick problem cares in connecting can cover by proper training of the existing P.H.N of the Health center and it will going to help the people difficulty to visiting hospital as well as improving effective an efficiency the medical care budget and hospital bed utilization. Also these Home care opportunity can utilize the health education and counseling of the community people to prevent the preventable disease through these education and counseling activity at home by P.H.N help future nation´s health and wealth.
